We are pleased to announce the release of FireDaemon Session 0 Viewer 1.2.0! The FireDaemon Session 0 Viewer is a Windows utility that makes switching back and forth between your logged in Windows desktop and Session 0 a breeze.
Since the release of Windows Vista and Windows 2008, interactive Windows services (ie. those with a console or GUI component) have been forced to run in an isolated session. Typically, the way to interact with your interactive services on Session 0 was to switch desktop via the Interactive Services Detection Service applet. The FireDaemon Session 0 Viewer is a complete replacement for this.
FireDaemon Session 0 Viewer is available in three licensing models:
Retail (End User) with optional Software Assurance and Priority Technical Support subscriptions. Prices start at $US15 per copy with volume license discounts available.
OEM (Integrator) with Software Assurance and Priority Technical Support subscriptions. Use this model if you want to deploy FireDaemon Session 0 Viewer alongside your own custom app or as part of your platform. This version is priced at $US495 and includes 6 months of Software Assurance and Priority Technical Support. Annual maintenance is $US150.
MSP (Service Provider) with Software Assurance and Priority Technical Support subscriptions. Use this model if you are deploying in elastic environments on behalf of your clients. Licensing is by the month. A minimum of 20 licenses needs to be committed to per month. Prices start at $US1.25 per month with a volume discount when you exceed 100 licenses.
What Does Session 0 Viewer Do Differently?
The FireDaemon Session 0 Viewer is a completely standalone product and is a drop in replacement for the Interactive Services Detection Service and has the following features over the inbuilt Windows supplied one:
Enables access to Session 0 and interactive services on Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 10 and Windows Server Preview (2016)
Starts the Interactive Services Detection Service and a System Tray Notification Area applet across all user sessions that allows you to simply switch back and forth between your logged in session and Session 0 by just double clicking the FireDaemon applet icon
Redraws the desktop and windows of applications running in Session 0 correctly avoiding artifacting especially when switching to Session 0 via RDP
Allows you to switch to Session 0 indefinitely with no auto-logoff timeout
Starts a custom minimisable Task Tray on Session 0 that allows you to find and bring to front applications running on Session 0
Avoids the default nagging desktop popup "warning" you applications are running on Session 0
Start Menu shortcuts allow you to simply rollback to the default Windows Interactive Services Detection Service
Works with a variety of common remote control software products such as Remote Desktop Client, TeamViewer, VNC and others.
