Follow-Up Column Functionality
Follow-Up Column adds a small but very useful function to SharePoint Columns. It allows a user to mark important items with different kinds of flags (just as well as in Outlook follow-up function).
A component is very easy to use. Installation will take only few minutes. Before installing it is necessary to make sure that a target server meets Follow-Up Column system requirements. The developers also recommend using ArtfulBits License Manager (if one is not installed).
In order to use Follow-Up Column it is necessary to select it in the list of available columns in the Create Column page. In Additional Column Settings a user can change default settings to adjust column mode to his or her own needs. Here it is possible to change the description mode (date, text, text and date) and reduce to status image (flag) in the display form and list view form.
The component derives from Date and Time column behavior so a user can filter and sort values in this column in a usual way. In Follow-Up Column Special Settings one can choose what flag will indicate events that will happen Today, Tomorrow, This Week or Next Week. It is also possible to set a flag for a custom date.
ArtfulBits Follow-Up Column may be applied to Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) 3.0 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007. For both of the products the following functions are provided:
- Set flag with due date from predefined list: Today, Tomorrow, This Week, Next Week or Custom
- Different options of follow-up visualization using combinations of flag, text and date
- Support of sorting and filtering features
- Support of different calendars (Gregorian, Japanese Emperor Era, Korean Tangun Era, Hijri, etc.)
- Two-way conversion between ArtfulBits Follow-Up and standard SharePoint Date and Time column
- Language pack support (desired localization could be added by request)
ArtfulBits Follow-Up Column adds a really important function to standard SharePoint Site Columns.
