PDF Imprint by Inlite Research transforms ordinary PDFs into active imaging solutions

Press release: PDF Imprint

Publisher: Inlite Research

Inlite Research, the leading provider of barcode technology for document imaging, announces PDF Imprint, the business process integration application that upgrades legacy applications with effortless barcode automation. Two major obstacles stand in the way of IT organizations that seek to implement image based business processes. The first obstacle is their unfamiliarity with barcode designs and how to apply them. The second obstacle is the difficulty of modifying so many existing applications to accommodate and to imprint well constructed barcodes on the appropriate pages. Robust Barcode Design Barcodes must be designed to survive printing, which can stretch and mangle the barcodes as they are processed by the print driver onto paper; they must survive, as well, real world handling by customers, with smudges, dirt, paper stretching and poor quality scanning or faxing. All of these steps can only reduce the readability of the barcode. Furthermore, barcodes must be space efficient, delivering their data payload in a minimum of space on the paper. Inlite’s expert barcode design tool, the Visual Barcode Designer, takes account of all these aspects to produce the most efficient and robust barcode for each application. PDF Imprint then places these barcodes onto the documents. Avoiding the Legacy Code Trap Legacy code is either licensed from a third party, in which case it is practically unavailable for modification, or it is developed in-house. The creators of legacy in house applications are usually long gone, and modifying the applications is very difficult, or expensive in terms of its impact on the rest of the IT operation. PDF Imprint bypasses this problem entirely by accepting the output of the legacy process, and in one, simple step enhancing the output with barcodes designed specifically for that process. This allows IT to incrementally roll out the image automation, with minimal changes to the affected process. Automatic script based processing PDF Imprint operates according to a high level script based language that directs its operation. The scripts are human readable, and do not require extensive programming knowledge. They are easily modified and tested. Only a few lines of script are sufficient to process almost all applications.
