Software signing We've received an email asking us to sign our installers and would like to make our position regarding this matter public: We fail to see any reason to spend money on digital certificate. There are two main reasons why certificates are worthless: 1. There is no real responsibility in what software is signed. You can sign a copyright protecting product or a virus certificate company won't care nor it will not carry any part of response for such actions. 2. Signing a software will bring same annoying message "Do you really want to run this software". Windows 10, standard UAC settings. The only difference is a color. Summing these two points: customers have absolutely same protection from signed or unsigned software. Developers have no gain in security or faster installing a product. Thus, unless one of the problems above is not solved, we will not purchase a digital certificate. If you know a good reason for using digital certificate, feel free to let us know. Remote Recovery service We are happy to announce remote recovery service. Our expert will connect to your PC using TeamViewer or Microsoft Remote Desktop and recover required data using our software. We work only on your PC and do not copy any data. All you need is supply us with basic information provide us a remote access and a free space to save recovered data. Text fields are recovered as BLOBs in MySQL database Some customers edit MySQL script with recovered database, removing exporting text fields as BLOB type. Please don't do it. SQL script with recovered data should be executed as is. Main problem in exporting tables from SQL file is that there are too many character encodings in the world which cause chaos. The only reasonable way to avoid wrong encoding and make sure all recovered databases are exported correctly is to export text fields as a BLOB type with following conversion on server. Common customer questions about our products and order options Question:Does this product have an expiration date? ​No. And we don't plan to limit our customers in any way in the future. However we have to change our registration keys from time to time because of piracy and technological reasons. Any existing customer will receive replacement for outdated key ASAP. Question:Will it retrieve files from SD, flash, and other type drives? Partition, Ntfs, Efs Recovery are working with all disk kinds except optic disks like CD\DVD. Memory cards, USB flash, SSD are supported. Actually it is a filesystem matter not device. We can recover from any device that has compatible file system. ​ ​Question:can i scan and use this on an external drive as well? ​My apologies, you can not use our software installed on removable media on multiple PCs, as registration binds software to the system where it was registered. You can install and register our products to the removable media and use it, however connecting flash disk to another PC will result in running unregistered version. This is a limitation of our registration system and can not be changed to get a portable version. ​​ Question:​Does it come on a CD, or thumb drive(preferably CD)? Step-by-Step BitLocker encrypted data recovery Thank you for choosing SoftAmbulance. Please follow this guide to recover data stored on BitLocker encrypted disk. Should you have something that you haven't expected, or not described in this guide, please make a screen shot and let us know through support form. In theory there are 3 copies of BitLocker keys can be found on the disk. They are encrypted, so you will need a Windows user login and password information to decipher them. EFS Recovery is a data recovery software and we don't crack private property. If these keys can not be found, EFS Recovery will not ask for BitLocker key. This also means that we are unable to recover your data. Run EFS Recovery and you will see a disk list: If the disk is really encrypted HEX-preview doesn't look like something sensible: Please note that file system shown as BitLocker. You can see it if you switch to Details view mode. Double click on the disk to open it, and EFS Import Wizard will start, proceed to the following screens: Enter the BitLocker volume password when asked. Usually it is same as Windows user\password credentials. Please ignore this page, as information here displayed only for EFS disks, not BitLocker, simply click Next to proceed. Now here is a result: We have files and they can be previewed properly. Now we can save required data to other place. If you exit at this point to the disk list, you will see this disk's file system is displayed as FAT16, i.e. disk has been decrypted and EFS Recovery sees correct file system. Here is how HEX preview of the recovered disk looks like: Please note that now you can see a FAT16 identifier(MSDOS5.0) at the start of the disk.
